The party’s face in New Delhi, he was a socialist student activist in Jamia Milia Islamia during 1990s. After passing out of university, his anti-imperialist lectures drew wide appreciation and admiration. A socialist to the core, he is a strong votary of India’s independence in foreign policy matters. A good orator in Hindi and Urdu, he is party’s bridge between Karnataka and the Hindi heartland. Ali, who shares a close rapport with leaders of Left parties, played a key role in the formation of the Third Front and also in making the Mayawati led Bahujan Samaj Party a part of it. He has traveled extensively across the world and has represented India in the activities of International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) and meetings of Socialist International (SI). Presently, he is the National Secretary General and Spokesman of the party.
